Vertigo & Dizziness Relief

Vertigo and dizziness can be frightening and debilitating. The good news: most vestibular conditions — including BPPV, the most common cause of vertigo — can be fully resolved with specialized physical therapy, often in just 1–3 sessions.

Understanding Vertigo & Dizziness

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common cause of true vertigo — a spinning sensation triggered by head movement. Other vestibular conditions include vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis, Meniere's disease, and cervicogenic dizziness (dizziness originating from the neck). Each requires a different treatment approach.

How Physical Therapy Helps

Vestibular PT uses specific repositioning maneuvers (like the Epley maneuver for BPPV) to resolve the underlying cause of vertigo. For other vestibular disorders, gaze stabilization exercises, balance training, and habituation exercises retrain the brain-inner ear connection and restore confidence in movement.

Our Approach

Dr. Tabares performs a comprehensive vestibular assessment to identify the specific type and location of your vestibular dysfunction. This precision allows us to apply the correct maneuver or exercise protocol — and most patients with BPPV are completely resolved within 1–3 sessions.

What to Expect

BPPV often resolves remarkably fast. Other vestibular disorders may require 4–8 weeks of progressive vestibular rehabilitation. We also address any anxiety around dizziness, which is a common and important part of the recovery process.
